Rue Muse - Devon Toi
Meet the face of the Wave Rider campaign – Devon Toi. She travelled with our team to Rarotonga in August to capture the new Rue De Seine Bridal collection. Devon is our dream weaver, sun chaser and fearless adventurer all-in-one. We asked Devon to share with us more about herself and her adventures…
You are based in New Zealand, what do you love most about living here?
It’s the land of my Tūpuna (ancestors), it’s where I get my mana (power).
What are some of the must-visit beaches that you’d recommend to our Rue Insiders?
From my home in NZ– "Maori bay, Murawai, Auckland. The sunset, surf and black sand are unique and a must-see for all visitors. Internationally - Phuket, Thailand. Definitely during the Songkran festival. It was a giant water fight on the beach during the country’s hottest day."
What’s been the most exciting moment in your career so far?
Becoming a Rue model and escaping to Rarotonga the day Auckland went into lockdown. Our trip was magical, the people even better.
What was your favourite moment/highlight from the shoot with Rue De Seine?
Getting my mermaid locks, flawless skin and golden eyes applied by Ruth every morning while sitting in front of the ocean. The crystal clear water of Rarotonga framed by a hammock was the view.
What’s your favourite gown from the new collection? How would you style it?
Cove, wet at black rock… styled with a conch shell.
Who or what inspires you?
I inspire myself :) my experiences, interests and personality are always present in my art and clothing creations.
What’s your go-to makeup look?
Sunblock and mascara.
Describe your ideal wedding?
Michele Corty adorning me in custom Rue, an exotic location, the power couple Alex (videographer) and Sony (photographer) capturing the decadent day. Ruth working her make-up magic. Family, friends and no kids. I don’t want a ceremony I’d rather have a feast like a buffet dinner to allow for speeches then the rest of the night will be a massive party with everyone we love. We’ll sign the documents the morning of as cause for celebration. All I need now is a partner… Single independent women for life.
