– BALOON BLUE –
We have the pleasure of sharing with you Jackie & Michael’s beautiful wedding photos.
Jackie wore the Rue De Seine Juliette Dress and some seriously stunning shoes, look at those sparkles!
We wish you both all the best
How did you meet your fiancé?
Michael and I met 10 years ago through mutual friends – our respective good friends were cousins and we got to know each other as the two groups hung out at house parties (as you do when you’re 17 and 18!). I took Michael’s friend Kelly to my 7th Form Ball – little did I know they’d conspired for us to all meet up afterwards and the rest is history! Kelly was the MC at our wedding and took great delight in taking the credit and sharing the story with our guests.
You wore RUE DE SEINE’s Juliette dress with cap sleeves for your wedding day, was that the style you had in mind before you started looking?
I had never really pictured my wedding or my wedding dress before, so I was really keen to try a variety of styles when looking. I knew what wouldn’t look any good on me, but I put myself out of my comfort zone and tried on a range of styles – just to be sure. I knew I wanted something with some cap sleeves, an open neckline and that I didn’t want a meringue!
The Juliette dress was one I’d admired on the Rue De Seine website. I adored the lace – it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen and I couldn’t stop thinking about it! I liked that it was lace, but that it was modern too. Michele and her team were happy to add some little cap sleeves to the dress, which made the dress perfection for me. I felt comfortable, timeless and elegant. I also added a simple tulle veil and crystal comb – both from Rue De Seine.
How did you pick…
Your gorgeous wedding location?
My husband and I love good food and wine, so we knew our wedding venue had to have some delicious offerings! We researched thoroughly and explored a number of venues, but kept coming back to Mudbrick Restaurant & Vineyard on Waiheke. We’ve always loved Waiheke and I had my 21st birthday lunch there, so it seemed fitting to get married there too.
We love the effortless elegance of Mudbrick, with a hint of rustic charm and the most divine view, food and wine. The Mudbrick team went above and beyond for us, in particular the fantastic chefs added some German touches to the menu. My father is German, but wasn’t able to be with us on the day due to illness, so having some German elements made the meal really special for us.
We didn’t have a particular theme for the day – more of a vibe we wanted to create. We wanted the day to feel fresh, effortless, relaxed and special. And we wanted our guests to have an amazing time! We chose a palette of soft greens, blues and greys and kept the styling fairly simple and understated. We were lucky enough to have PS I Love You Events create a gorgeous Pimms trolley for us, which went down a treat! That, plus we made some some blackboards, petal cones and the table numbers which added a few more bespoke elements.
Who was your photographer?
Coralee Stone (http://www.coraleeandalex.com/) She was amazing – we caught up a few times before the wedding for a drink and to get to know each other. Coralee was so enthusiastic and we knew we’d have an amazing day with her around. We loved her style and the bright and fresh images she creates – it was just what we were after. We also chose to have a videographer and went with Bubblerock, which was one of the best decisions we made. Bubblerock are phenomenal! So far we’ve only seen our trailer, but it blew us away – video really captures the day in a way that photos just can’t. I can’t recommend getting a videographer more highly.
Tell us about your bridesmaid dresses?
From the outset I knew I didn’t want my bridesmaids to wear the same dress and I thought a floor length dress would look really elegant, as well as helping to keep the girls warm in the evening!
I found the bridesmaids dresses on Dessy.com – they had such a great range of styles and colors. My bridesmaids chose their dresses from a range of complementary styles and I had a range of fabric swatches sent over – we chose 4 different colors that all worked well together. I loved that the dresses all complemented the girls so well, and let them each have a different look – whilst looking stunning together.
Looking back, what was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
After the ceremony, and while our guests were getting settled in the restaurant, we walked up behind Mudbrick and had some photos and video taken up high on the hill. It was a bit of a walk, but the view was incredible. It was our first moments ‘alone’ as husband and wife, and looking back down at the view was pretty magical. We were able to reflect on the day and look forward to the evening to come, it was a real sense of achievement to have gotten to that point. The second moment was during our first dance to Ellie Goulding’s cover of ‘Your Song’. The chorus was completely drowned out by all our friends and family singing along! It was so amazing to hear everyone singing and supporting us, despite our rusty dance moves!
